How to get Started?

1) Click on VIEW in the drop down menu to select the type of graph you want to work with or use the shortcut key "Shift+t" for Time Domain and "Shift+F" for Frequency Domain.

Time Domain- This will graph the amplitude of the sound wave as time progresses. It will give you the opportunity to zoom in and out and scroll back and forth in regard to time.

Frequency Domain- This will graph the frequency distribution in magnitude at different Hz.

Sine and Cosine Wave Generator- This option allows you to generate, view and listen to your own sine or cosine wave.

2) Choose whether you want to record your own WAV file or open an existing WAV file.

NOTE***This application is designed to work ONLY WITH WAV FILES AND WILL NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER TYPE OF FILE

3) To open an existing WAV file select OPEN from the FILE drop down menu or use the shortcut key "Ctrl+O". Then browse through your files and highlight the desired file and press OPEN.

4) If you choose to record your own WAV file click on the left outer box with the red dot to start recording. Once you start recording it will display your graph live depending on the view you're in.

5) After you have stopped recording you can change views to see the sound presented in different forms.

How do I change my settings?

1) Under the advanced menu tab, click "Settings".

2) In the settings dialog you can select new values for the graph y-axis range and change the color of the graph display.

3) Click "Apply" to apply your settings to the graph. If you entered a value that is not valid, a message saying "Invalid Input" will appear at the bottom.

4) Once you are satisfied with the settings you can close the dialog by clicking the x in the corner or by clicking the "Cancel" button.

How do I use the Frequency Domain View?

1) Open a previously recorded WAV file or start recording your own

2) In this view you DO NOT have the option to scroll or zoom in and out of the graph

3) Once you stop recording you can listen to the playback by pressing the blue arrow button

4) To pause the play back press the button with the two blue bars

5) When you're done you can save the WAV file by Pressing the FILE button on the drop down menu and selecting SAVE or by using the shortcut key "Ctrl+s". Select the directory and name where you desire to save the file then click SAVE.

6) To start a new project press NEW on the FILE drop down or use the shortcut key "Ctrl+n".

7) To exit the application select EXIT on the FILE drop down menu or press the red X on the top right hand corner of the window.

How do I use the Time Domain View?

1) Open a previously recorded WAV file or start recording your own

2) Once you open a file or start recording you have the option to zoom in and out of the graph.
a) To zoom in press the the blue "+" button in the right hand side.
b) To zoom out press the red "-" button underneath the zoom in.

3)To stop recording press the button with the red square

4)Once you stop recording you can use the scroll bar to scroll back and forth in your graph to a desired time and zoom in or out.

5)You can listen to your play back at any time by pressing the blue arrow button.

6)To pause the play back press the button with the two blue bars

7)When you're done you can save the WAV file by Pressing the FILE button on the drop down menu and selecting SAVE or by using the shortcut key "Ctrl+s".
Select the directory and name where you desire to save the file then click SAVE.

8)To start a new project press NEW on the FILE drop down or use the shortcut key "Ctrl+n".

9)To exit the application select EXIT on the FILE drop down menu or press the red X on the top right hand corner of the window.

How do I use the Sine and Cosine Wave Generator?

1) To use this feature make sure you are in the TIME DOMAIN view

2) On the drop down menu click on ADVANCED

3) Select the desired wave you want to generate and click it

4) Select the amplitude, frequency in hertz, and the duration in seconds of the wave you desire to generate and click apply to generate the wave.

5) The wave will then be graphed on the screen

6) You can zoom in and out of the graph as desired

7) You can switch to the FREQUENCY DOMAIN view to see the frequency distribution of the generated wave.

8) When you're done you can save the WAVE file by Pressing the FILE button on the drop down menu and selecting SAVE or by using the shortcut key "Ctrl+s". Select the directory and name where you desire to save the file then click SAVE.

9) To start a new project press NEW on the FILE drop down or use the shortcut key "Ctrl+n".

10) To exit the application select EXIT on the FILE drop down menu or press the red X on the top right hand corner of the window.
