This course is also known as the Mathematics Brown Bag Seminar.  I have scheduled the slate of speakers for this seminar during the Fall 2000 and Spring 2002 semesters.  The speakers are often faculty from the CSMS department as well as faculty in other departments on campus, students, and people off campus; the common denominator being how mathematics is used in the world around us or above us (mathematics research).  The brown bag seminar is an especially great way for students to see interesting uses of mathematics that they may not be exposed to in their coursework.  Free bagels and soda are provided!
