Put in: At Flaming Gorge Dam. See River Regulations There are a few class II+ rapids in the first twelve miles that have caused boaters (inexperienced?) problems. Touring canoes are not appropriate for this river as they are likely to swamp. Whitewater canoes paddled by intermediate skill level paddlers are appropriate. There is no camping in the first seven miles between the dam and Little Hole boat ramp. Campsites below Little Hole must be reserved at the board at Little Hole boat ramp. Little Hole boat ramp can be reached by driving five miles on a road from Dutch John, Wyoming. Below Little Hole is Red Creek Rapid which has caused problems for some boaters. Right side of Red Creek Rapid is a Class III and can be scouted from the cliff above it on river right. The left side of Red Creek Rapid is a rock garden. The lower the water level the more difficult it becomes. The left side is a Class II or II+ and should be scouted.
