Race notes:
What a wonderful way to start a new
year, skiing hard with a fine group of people in the envigorating air and
scenery of Grand Mesa! We had snowcat grooming from Grand Mesa Lodge to make
the best of nearly a foot of new snow that had fallen overnight. Thanks as
always to Kenton Shaw for heading up the grooming effort.
The course
went out Arroyo and the valley side of Vista
and onto Kannah Crossing for a long uphill grade but finally turned onto Scales Lake Road
for a fast cruise back. That made the race closer to 11 K than 10 but nobody
seemed to mind the opportunity to burn off a few extra holiday calories.
