More exchanging of drafts with written responses.

Shorter journals.

More time (in class?) to work on essays.

More time in class pre-writing essays.

Write journals on different subjects than the essays we’ve read.

Don’t use small groups. Keep the discussion in the large group.

More time for papers in class.

Read two essays as a class instead of one and use them for journals, rather than writing about discussions. There isn’t much to say in the small groups.
